Tabung Haji Over 84,000 Appeal for Haj Slots, Says Minister
KUALA LUMPUR: The Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has received 84,000 appeal applications from individuals hoping to secure slots left vacant by those unable to perform haj this year, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
Out of the total appeals, 80,000 applicants have expressed their willingness to cover the full cost of their haj pilgrimage.
Pilgrim Confirmation and Quota Request
He further disclosed that 91% of the approved 31,600 pilgrims have confirmed their participation. The remaining slots will be allocated to applicants from the appeal list.
“Alhamdulillah, 91% of those selected have confirmed their journey, and each of them has been issued their respective flight schedules.
“We are also hopeful that the Saudi government will grant an additional quota of 10,000 pilgrims for Malaysia,” Mohd Na’im said at an event where the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council distributed contributions to medical centers and hospitals under the Rahmah Madani Ramadan programme on Thursday (March 13).

Awaiting Saudi Government’s Response
The minister also revealed that an official request for additional haj slots has been submitted to the Saudi government, though no response has been received yet.
“As of now, we have not received any indication of when we will get an answer regarding the quota request,” he added.
