A foreign woman recently shared a disturbing experience on TikTok, where she claimed to have been scammed and threatened with a knife during a snorkeling trip in the Perhentian Islands.
According to the video by “@itsrafaaa,” the woman and her sister were visiting the Perhentian Islands for the first time and were recommended a snorkeling trip by a female restaurant employee who promised a discounted rate of RM30 per person.
However, after the snorkeling session, the boat operator, who was the female employee’s brother, demanded additional payment, leaving the sisters confused.
The situation escalated when the female employee arrived, insisting they owed an additional RM70, leading to a heated argument. The woman reluctantly agreed to pay another RM30, but the incident took a frightening turn when a friend of the employee appeared with a knife and began chasing the sisters.
The woman urged Perhentian Islands staff to clearly list prices in writing to avoid misunderstandings and advised tourists to confirm all prices before purchasing or renting any services to stay safe.
